Forest Green Rovers is on the hunt for a new head chef to continue the club鈥檚 revolutionary work as the world鈥檚 first vegan football club.
The successful candidate will continue the outstanding work of current head chef, Em Franklin, who is leaving the club after three years in post.
In that time, the club launched the to much acclaim,聽won the Sports & Leisure Catering Magazine 鈥楳enu of the Year鈥 award and received a 鈥榟ighly commended鈥 prize in the Great British Pie Awards for its signature dish, the Q Pie.
FGR鈥檚 healthy and exciting vegan menu has been hugely successful in spreading FGR鈥檚 environmental message around the world, and the club has even inspired other clubs in the Football League to try vegan food.
Dale Vince, FGR chairman, said:
鈥淭his is a massive opportunity for a talented, passionate chef to build on the considerable success we鈥檝e had with our vegan menu, and the media interest we鈥檝e had in our ethos.
鈥淚 can鈥檛 think of another chef in sport who has been interviewed by so many media outlets across the world 鈥 from China to the USA and most places in between.
鈥淔ood sales at FGR have quadrupled since we went vegan a few years back, and this season we鈥檝e sold thousands more of our award-winning Q-Pie than ever before.聽
鈥溁使谔逵齛pp鈥檙e gutted to lose Em, who made our transformation to vegan such a success, but there鈥檚 a huge opportunity for someone new to take us to the next level.鈥
As well as developing the club鈥檚 food offering, the head chef will support the wider community and schools work of the club and work with the media to promote FGR鈥檚 approach to vegan food to a global audience.
Forest Green will celebrate Em Franklin鈥檚 contribution to the club at the last game of the season against Grimsby in May.
