Red is the Color of Love - The Wedding of Avery & Shaun
Featured on the Style Networks hit show, “Whose Wedding is it Anyway.”

Princeton based wedding planner and event designer, Kristin Rockhill of Details of I Do, is being featured on The Style Network’s hit show, “Whose Wedding is it Anyway.” The episode, which airs November 14th at 10pm, is set in the picturesque landscape of downtown Princeton and takes place amid the rustic elegance and charm of the Historic Nassau Inn. Kristin, who specializes in creating one of a kind events for her clients, worked closely with the Bride to help her bring her vision to life. “The most important thing to me is to create an event that truly reflects my clients life and personal style.” Kristin not only focuses on creating a breathtaking event but also strives to include personal touches as well as incorporating the couples heritage and history in order to make the event meaningful and memorable.

The Wedding
For this event Kristin’s challenge was to create a cozy and intimate environment for the 30 close friends and family that were attending the wedding. Rather then using The Nassau Inn’s large ballroom the 3 smaller rooms on the second level of the hotel seemed a better fit. “This event was not your traditional wedding, the night was split up into three parts.” For the cocktail hour guests enjoyed the rustic Lobby 2 Lounge and mingled to Traditional Irish Music for the Traditional Irish Bride. Guest also enjoyed specialty cocktails that paid homage to the Grooms home of Hawaii. Guest then gathered in the Palmer Room for an intimate candlelight dinner with soft, mellow tunes playing in the background. As for the décor, what could be more romantic then a room set afire with glowing candlelight and the sultry shades of red in various hues! The tables featured Bordeaux satin floor length linens accompanied by antiqued black and gold crackle reception chairs. The centerpieces consisted of various sizes of church candles wrapped in luxurious red satins, silks and velvets complimented by a touch of Black Magic Roses. To accent this elaborate creation of red candlelight, Kristin incorporated a beautifully romantic Italian Florentine paper into the table numbers, menus and favors, all custom designed pieces by Details of I Do. This extravagant stationary paired with luxe gold chargers was the perfect formula to bring drama and depth to the tables. It Created A Truly Romantic Affair.

The Details
The details are what truly made this affair unique and Details of I Do specializes in the details. Kristin assisted the bride in finding the perfect vendors to compliment not only her wedding vision but also her heritage. It all started with a gorgeous dress that was the perfect fit for the dramatic reception! Kristin worked closely with the bride and master wedding dress seamstress, Nilah of Nilah & Company. Together they customized the once worn dress and made it truly one of a kind by adding an antique broach, sparkling crystal accents and a custom designed veil to match. When it came time to for hair and makeup this bride was all about drama so Kristin called in her favorite beauty experts, The Glam Fairy, Alexa Prisco and Hair Diva, Mandy Liento. With the team of experts in place this wedding ensemble was ready for its red carpet debut! Next on the list was the music, which was a top priority for this Bride. It was very important for the bride to incorporate her heritage into the wedding so when it was time to walk down the aisle, it was to the mystical sounds of an Irish bagpiper and later guests enjoyed the tunes of a Celtic rock band. For Photography Kristin turned to Elizabeth Massa, for her unobtrusive documentary style photography. “This wedding was all about capturing moments, not setting them up and Elizabeth was perfect for the job.” One last detail that could not go unmentioned was the extravagant fondant cake that the bride set her heart on. Kristin worked closely with Chez Alice Bakery in Princeton to create this custom cake! “It was a challenge to bring this cake to life,” says Kristin. Because the wedding was a small and intimate group, there was no need for a large and extravagant cake. That did not stop Kristin from getting her bride what she wanted. “We decided to do faux layers to give the cake the presence and glory that it deserved.” When you’re working with Details of I Do, they make sure you can have your cake and eat it to!

What the bride had to say
Dear Kristin, Shaun and I would like to thank you for thoughtful and conscientious management of our wedding. You have worked tirelessly on our behalves, as a negotiator, intermediary and facilitator, and have allowed us to enjoy this special time in our lives.

From our initial meeting you have shown that you are a true professional who leaves no stone unturned guarantying the couple the truly customized wedding of their (our) dreams.

The venue, (thanks to your personal creativity) is being made stunning! Almost single-handedly you’ve turned the Nassau Inn into the stuff dreams are made of. Dark reds and gold have taken on new meaning when combined with beautiful chairs and the soft luminanescence of covered velvet and silk candles, paired with gorgeous deep red flowers. I won’t forget the moment we entered the room, a true explosion of vibrancy and colors. Exactly what I had asked for!

So how ese are we to offer our highest praise Kristin?

Well, we both promise to do whatever we can to recommend “Details of I Do” to anybody considering the need for extraordinary creativity, listening and organizational skills when looking to make their special day come to life. You’ve done exactly what your name suggests and paid attention to every detail!! We are still receiving compliments on our gorgeous invitations still.

Shaun and I have no doubt that our wedding day thanks to you and your wonderful staff will be more than we ever could have imagined.

Best regards, Avery
