Kristin Rockhill Details of I Do
Princeton, New Jersey

Location you can transform into anything:
Transforming a space is the most exciting part of my job, especially because we handle all of the décor, including flowers, lighting, rentals, and table-top design in-house. One venue where we find ourselves quite often is the Nassau Inn in Princeton. While the ballroom is classic and simple, it has beautiful bay windows that add a sense of openness and ambience to the room. It is basically a blank slate.

Favorite custom touch:
We design custom stationery to match every client's event, via our letterpress company, Couture Papers. Each piece is designed with the client in mind right down to the colors, fonts, design, and custom monogram/logo for the couple. It really makes your wedding personal and stand out from cookie-cutter weddings. Favor that never fails to impress:
Candy bars! No matter how many times we do a candy bar, I am always amazed at the guests' reactions and sheer delight.

Favorite online source:
Prestonbailey.com. I absolutely love gaining inspiration from his ingenious designs.

Where you would get married if you had to do it all over again:
I'd have a destination wedding, for sure! It's an opportunity to spend quality time with your family, and is an experience that only happens once in a lifetime.

Biggest mistake you see brides about to make (and hopefully talk them out of!):
Trying to cut corners and have a family friend take photos or deejay or do your own flowers--the results are disastrous! Weddings are expensive, but you get what you pay for. That's why it's important to prioritize and find creative ways to have a budget-friendly wedding--and it's definitely not do-it-yourself.

Favorite flower:
Hydrangeas, calla lilies, orchids, roses. Best bang for your buck:
Getting a designer gown at a sample sale for a fraction of the price.

Detail you'd spend the money on every time:
Lighting. I can't say enough about the importance of lighting and how it transforms a room.

The one thing you know that brides don't:
The importance of a wedding planner. I know how truly crazy the wedding is--there are so many moving parts, and the last thing you want is a million people asking you questions.
